With over 40 years experience Alastair Douglas served his apprenticeship at his father's family butchers. He gained further experience by working in supermarkets, the wholesale meat trade and finally opened his own butcher's business in Aberdeen some 20 years ago.
The Butcher at the Brig is the only independent butchers in the Bridge of Don. Ally bought the business in 2011 from Gordon Simpson who had successfully built up the business over 25 years. Ally and his staff are building on that success and have expanded and diversified their product range to include a wide range of speciality dishes for our customers.

Driven by quality and the consumers' interest in how their food is prepared and where it comes from, we take pride in sourcing our meat products locally from suppliers in the North East of Scotland, including Rhinds of Elgin, McWilliam, Aberdeen and Scotbeef, Inverurie. All our meat products, including beef, venison, pork and lamb, are sourced from farms that have a similar philosophy to us – providing high quality meats without compromise. Our beef is hung well to maximise tenderness and flavour. Our venison and game are provided fresh when in season or frozen when not.
Serving the Bridge of Don community, and also a broad customer base that extends to the rest of the city and beyond.
